In a typical model, we finance the construction as the network operator. What we need from the municipality is mainly cooperation - helpfulness during permitting, establishing easements on municipal land, and ideally coordination with other planned constructions.
However, we always set up the specific cooperation model individually according to the size of the municipality, building density, and residents' interest.
The permitting process is usually the longest part - it can take more than a year. The construction itself is then a matter of months. The better the municipality cooperates in permitting and coordination, the sooner citizens get connected.
That is why it makes sense to start negotiating as soon as possible, even if excavations are planned for, say, two years from now.
The biggest savings come from coordinating constructions - when optical ducts are added to an excavation for sewage, water supply, or new sidewalks, costs drop to a fraction. It also helps to be able to route lines in green belts instead of under asphalt and to use existing infrastructure: ducts, utility tunnels, or public lighting poles.
Not bindingly. However, before construction, we survey the preliminary interest of the residents - it helps us to properly dimension the network and confirms the viability of the investment. The municipality can help a lot by informing citizens about the project, for example via the municipal newsletter or website.
We recommend bringing the connection to the house even for those who don't want to connect yet - a subsequent connection is then a matter of days, not excavations.
Definitely yes. We are not a corporation that only counts localities in the thousands - we build in smaller municipalities too, especially when we find a helpful administration and reasonable routing options. We evaluate each locality individually and will honestly tell you what is realistic in your case.
It depends on what the existing provider offers. If it is a wireless connection or an old metallic network, full-fledged fiber to the home is a significant leap in quality for citizens. And even where fiber already exists, competition brings better prices and services for the residents.
It is referred to as FTTH (Fiber To The Home) - the optical fiber leads right into the household, not just to an antenna on the roof or a distribution box on the edge of the municipality. Only this way will citizens get the full speed and stability that fiber can provide. When negotiating with providers, it pays to ask about this detail - in marketing, fiber often stops a few hundred meters short.
